Sacre-Coeur Minerals Receives ALS Chemex Check Assays on Million Mountain
May 24, 2006
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – SACRE-COEUR MINERALS, LTD. (the “Company”) today announced that it has received check assays from ALS Chemex Laboratories, Vancouver, B.C., an ISO certified laboratory, for splits of the -200 mesh screen fraction of samples for drill holes 0105 and 0205 on its Million Mountain Project in the Middle Puruni Region of Guyana. Preliminary assays previously reported were determined by Loring Laboratories Inc. of Georgetown, Guyana. ALS Chemex results for the previously reported intervals were approximately 40% higher than the preliminary assays determined by Loring for drill hole 0105, but were essentially consistent with Loring’s preliminary results for drill hole 0205.
The Company uses preliminary results from Loring qualitatively to help guide its ongoing drilling program because of the expedient availability of data, but relies on Chemex results for reporting purposes as Chemex is an ISO certified facility. Some variability in sample results can be expected with carefully prepared splits of the same sample due to the presence of a component of relatively coarse free gold. However, the consistent undervalue of nearly 40% reported by Loring with respect to the assays for drill hole 0105 suggests a negative bias due to procedural differences. Though the difference seemed to be resolved with the comparative results for drill hole 0205, which is within normally expected variability, the Company is working with Loring to ensure that its procedures are consistent with those of ALS Chemex and produce similar analytical results in the future.
Drilling is continuing along the trend of the Northwest striking shear zone intersected in drill holes 0105 and 0205 with the Company’s new Atlas Copco CS14 core drill. Receipt of preliminary assays for several additional fans of holes along this trend is expected shortly. As soon as analysis by the Company’s geologic team is completed shortly thereafter, a clear picture of the strike length tested to date will be released.
